The distance from Delhi via Mandi is approximately 585 km and from Shimla it is 270 km. Luxury buses run regularly by Himachal Tourism (HRTC) from Shimla, Chandigarh and Delhi. Private taxis and shared cabs are also widely available from all major cities.

There is no direct rail connection to Manali. The nearest broad-gauge railheads are at Chandigarh and Ambala. The narrow-gauge Kangra Valley Railway terminates at Jogindernagar, from where taxis are available to Manali.

The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport (Kullu–Manali Airport), located in Kullu — approximately 50 km from Manali. Airlines operate seasonal flights from Delhi, Chandigarh and other cities. From Bhuntar, taxis are readily available for the 1.5–2 hour drive to Manali.
